Your mouth is the gateway for complete health.
Infectious disease and decay in the mouth lead to challenges in the body.
Seventy five percent of our healthcare costs are caused by chronic disease, something that can be prevented. Patients that have mouth infections have a higher incidence of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, cancer and premature birth. My staff and I are committed to promoting your dental health as well as preventing medical disease and illness.
- Periodontal Disease – Arterial disease is caused by inflammation. The American Heart Association has determined that the inflammation that occurs with periodontal disease is independently associated with cardiovascular disease. New studies have shown that up to 50% of heart attacks are caused by oral infections. What does this mean to your health? Periodontal disease causes heart attacks and stroke. This source of inflammation can be eliminated with proper treatment to control periodontal disease and promote healthy gums.
- Oral Cancer – Every 60 minutes someone dies from oral cancer. For years we have screened our patients for oral cancer. Because early detection is so important, we are using fluorescence light, Oral ID, allowing us to find problem areas sooner.
- Blood Pressure – High blood pressure can cause heart failure, stroke, as well as artery, kidney and eye damage. For years we have monitored our patient’s blood pressure at their re-care visit.
- Sleep Apnea - How well do you sleep? Sleep apnea affects thousands of people every day. Currently we don’t treat sleep apnea but we can refer you to physicians or dentists for treatment.
Our main treatment goal is to help you achieve and maintain a healthy mouth. But by asking a few questions and performing a number of screenings, we can also support your medical health and help you prevent disease and illness.
